Match report
A disappointing match following on from our recent success. We were put in to bat on a blustery day. Sarah Baigent opened her shoulders and hit a quickfire 23 in 5 overs. We were looking good on 30 after 5 overs. Lauren Oliver was unlucky again to be caught out, and Marilyn Smith struggled to score freely, finally being run out for a painfully slow 13. Cath Goold held the innings together with a well worked 25, but no one else managed to reach double figures.
The lethargy followed us into the field. It was tough to bowl into the wind, and we didn't support our bowlers, with sloppy fielding. We couldn't afford to give away runs having set such a low target, but this wasn't our day. The batsmen gave very few chances, and we weren't at our best. Hampstead reached the total in less than 20 overs.
We know we are better than that - it was just a bad day. Fielding practice at the next training session I think!
