Match report Won the toss and elected to bat. This week, it was Maz and Edna who opened the batting.
They took a couple of overs to watch the ball, and then started hitting cleanly. Edna’s six into the bowling green was a joy to watch. At 50 off 7 runs, we were feeling good. Then Maz chose the wrong ball to cut and was bowled on 26. Edna was bowled next over for 24. Still, 54 for 2 off 9 overs was OK. Katie Davies hit some powerful shots until she was caught out for 19. Runs were harder to come by then. Lucy was out lbw for 1, Mags was bowled on 11, Sal made 7, Debbie 6, Eimar and Reshma 5 each. We were all out for 111.
The bowling was much tighter than last week, but our fielding let us down. Three dropped catches and a missed run out and their opener soon made 50. Mags and Sal both took wickets, and Mags took a run out, but we just didn’t have enough run on the board. They reached our total with 5 overs to spare
We know we can field better than that and take the catches – it just didn’t come together for us in this game
Two more league matches to go to get some more points on the board
