Actonians Cricket Club Ladies XI v Ealing Ladies on Tue 04 Aug 2015 at 6.00
Actonians Cricket Club Won

Match report We finally filled a side of 11, with two players making their debut for Old A Ladies.

Ealing won the toss and decided to have a bowl.

We knew we had to get a big score on the board and decided to go with an attacking batting line up with Edna and Camille opening. They both started well with Edna hitting 31 before she was run out, Lucy went in to continue her good form this season so far. Camille supported from the other end rotating the strike and challenging their fielding with quick singles before being bowled for 15. Salma and Debbie was troubled by a young spin bowler who was then on a hat-rick ball. Lucy finishing on 30 n.o. was supported by Reshma and Eleanor in the final few overs to get the team total to 100 off the 20 overs.

With our bowling strength we knew 100 was a defendeble target. Camille and Lucy opened the bowling. Edna and Eleanor came on, keeping them below their require run rate and Eleanor taking the first wicket of the innings and her first for Old A's in her first over. Eleanor went on to take 2 further wickets, two great catches, one from Lucy the other Camille, finishing on 3-17 off her 4 overs. We bowled and fielded well, not letting much past. With their young legs they were running doubles really challenging our fielding, a few run out chances and calls that didn't go our way, but we fought on keeping them below their required run rate. Katy and Salma came on to bowl as they were starting to look to hit out. Lucy and Camille where bought back into the attack with Lucy taking a wicket in the final over, just what we needed! Reshma came on to take a wicket in the penultimate over leaving Ealing to get 10 runs to win off the last over bowled by Edna, they ran at everything possible, with their number 7 getting run out on the last ball.

Great to get back to winning way and a filling a full side!

The Middlesex 20 Over League has now finished. We played 6 games in total, winning 4 of them. The team has consisted of a great mix of experience from our colts side to ladies relatively new to cricket who have never played competitive cricket. It has been a pleasure captaining the side and seeing individuals grow in confidence and skill.
