Match report After over an hour sat in traffic, we finally made it to Ickenham for our second game in the Middlesex League. We were put in to bat against a young Ickenham side, Rebecca and Julie opened to get the team off to a strong start. Hoping to keep the score ticking in singles and rotating the strike we lost our first wicket to a run out in the second over. The young Ickenham side bowled and fielded well making it hard for us to score runs, wickets kept falling at regular intervals and we were 33/4 in the 8th over. Preeti, playing her first game of the season joined Rebecca in the middle and steadied the ship, they got us up to 56, before Preeti was bowled in the 13th over. Reshma went in and supported Rebecca (44 n.o.) to get the score up to 86 off our 16 overs.

We knew we had to keep the wides and no ball down to a minimum and not give away too many easy runs. Katy and Preeti opened the bowling and were backed up by good fielding. Preeti took the first wicket in the 4th over, slowing the run rate down. Emily and Edna came onto bowl, with Emily taking her first wicket in her first over, all that hard work in the nets finally paying off!! They both continued taking wickets a fantastic catch by Sophie at square leg sent thier opener back. Ickenham were at 34/4 after 8 overs and had send a more experienced left hander in to keep the runs ticking over, we had to stay alert in the field making sure we were in the right position for the right, left hand combo. They were slowly catching up, but great fielding meant they really had to work for runs, two great stops from Debbie at gully stopped boundaries, leaving Ickenham with 31 runs of the last 4 overs to win. Tight bowling from Reshma and Emily left Ickenham 16 short of the target.

Great work all round, a huge well done to Emily for her first wickets for the club.
