Actonians Cricket Club Ladies XI v Hampstead Ladies on Sun 09 Jul 2017 at 1.00pm
Actonians Cricket Club Lost

Match report The day started well with Reshma winning the toss and electing to field first. Emma and Sorcha opened the bowling both starting well, backed up by good fielding, putting everything behind the ball even an eyebrow (it's harder than a football Emma). Amy elegantly took the first with a direct hit to run out the number two in the 2nd over. Sorcha continued to create pressure and was rewarded with a catch off her own bowling in the 10th over and Hampstead were on 51. A change of bowlers kept Hampstead in their toes, Lucy came on to take a wicket in her first over. The runs started to slow and the batters where under some pressure. A one handed catch down leg side by Debbie gave Lucy her second wicket followed by an amazing catch for Amy at deep mid wicket off Resh's bowling left Hampstead 92/5 in the 19th over. An easy catch for Emma at mid off gave Resh her second wicket. Nelson (Hampstead on 111, batsmen on 11) struck with a casual caught and bowled for Lucy in the very next over who was walking back to her mark when she realised she'd actually taken a wicket. Runs really slowed but we fought hard and a another wicket came for Resh in the 31st over followed by another caught and bowled by Amy in the very next over. We continued to bowl well, but their tail batted out the full 40 over giving us a target of 151. A mention for our debutee Ayesha who did really well in the field.

Not a huge target, but with a strong bowling attack we had to keep our heads. Keely and Lucy opened, we started well with Keely hitting three 4's in the first over. The second over didn't go so well with Lucy and Keely both being dismissed caught behind. Caught behind became a fashion with Emma being sent back the same way. Off to A&E she went to show off her bruise. Amy and Resh at the crease just went out to enjoy the sunshine and have a bit of fun. They both batted really well with good running between the wicket and playing some really good shots. They steadied the innings and started to put some runs on the scoreboard. It wasn't until the 21st over, after a partnership of 68 when the next wicket fell, Resh was bowled on 25. Debbie was looking good before a direct hit ran her out in the 24th over. Ayesha making her debut faced a ball that should have been bowler at Amy trapping her for LBW. Amy's good innings came to an end in the 26th over, she was caught on 48. Unfortunately wickets continued to fall and we fell short finishing on 119/10 in the 28th over.

Thank you to Martin and Perry for scoring and umpiring. Our next game is a development at home (Boddington) against Richmond. Let me know if you can play.
