3rd X1
Captain :
Tom Gilmour
Right arm bowler of wides and right-handed strokeless batsman. Joined the club when still in single figures and recently returned after a 6 year break. Installed as captain in a desperate attempt to bring the average age of the Thirds below 50.
Vice Captain :
Kevin Mahoney
Slow medium right hand away swing bowler, slow right handed leg side bat! Field with enthusiasm and a lot of pain the following day. Member of the elite Grumpy Old men squad who practise what they preach and play every game like a world cup final. Very enthusiastic about the club and all it stands for.
Level 2 qualified ECB coach and member of the Sunday morning coaching fraternity.
Players
Tim Buchanan
Getting older and slower as it goes, quick game is a good game. Opens a bit for the 3rd's or I did, now have other duties outside of cricket that will limit availability actually it may curtail it completely. But hey it was time for a change
Vish Ehantharajah
20 Something fun-loving, free-spirit seeks soul mate for friendship and more. Not interested in this NSA nonsense, I'm all or nothing - and you could have it all... I also play cricket for Gumtree, which is perfect as far as the embelishment of figure(s) is concerned (only for the truth to be uncovered when it's far too late).
James Essex
Right Hand Opening Bat, Right Arm Bowler.
Karthik Hebsur
Right Hand Bat. Quick Right Arm Leggies that most often don't turn. And sometimes when they do, don't ask me how I did that! Looking for a great season of Cricket and fun with the Old A's. Its my first in London. Hope there will be more to come.
Nick Herne
Left hand bat, long suffering Old 'A's stalwart but not yet one of the old grumps....looking forward to another season scapping.
Sean Lester
James Luckhoo
I am a passionate West Indies and England cricket fan, although soley focussed on England regaining the Ashes and beating the Aussies this summer. It's my third season playing for OAs but I have been living in Acton for about 8 years. I am interested in youth work in Wembley and in Acton. I am a committed Christian and member of a local Acton church called Oaktree (oaktree.org.uk). My favourite player is Shivnarine Chanderpaul of Guyana and West Indies, on whom I model my batting.
Paul Maddock
Right- armer who seems to take wickets with looseners which deserve to go straight to the boundary, apart from that a pretty average bowler who has suprised himself with the amount of Butterworth points he has gained this year, must be a fix...
Mayur Mistry
Justin Peters
Shaun Qamar

Born where and when? Barry, South Wales; 44 years ago
Bat and bowl? Right-hand top-order bat; very occasional right-arm off-breaks
Bat? 2lb 9oz Warsop Platinum Peerless (just split – damn it!)
Best cricketing moment? Hitting a straight-six by
accident when chipping a medium-pacer over his head
Worst moment? Sliding into an outfield catch, mis-judging the ball and ending-up in A&E for half a dozen stitches in my lower lip
Cricket heroes? Ian Botham. Anyone who watched the drama unfold at Headingley in 1981 would agree
Bitter or lager? Depends whose buying, but bitter, please.
I say Looking forward to the new season, scoring 500 runs and snaffling dozens of catches
We say Never mind Jules, it wasn’t an easy chance........
Daljeet Singh
left arm spinner and middle order batsman
Alistair Slaughter
Currently living in exile in Yorkshire. Slow right arm bowler who can swing a bat just about straight and not much in other directions.
Duncan Slaughter
First played for the club when Noah was a rising star on the middle eastern colts circuit. 30 years after debut for Old As, still allowed to bat and bowl by kindly captains. Retained and appointed as President as means of making the other grumpies feel young. Top score of 180 at Old As in the days when we had a dart board. I moonlight for the Treasury and Cabinet Office CC, who have also made me their President. Have finally persuaded my elder son to join the ranks of OAs - he now has 30 years to go.
Steve Smith
Known for bowling right arm express pace, and having a determined approach to the game (and also under the guise of a variety of nicknames ranging from Smithanator, Smiffy, Shreckie). Has now been with this club for over 16 years as he joined the club when a mere nipper aged 8. Has done pretty much everything for the club ranging from keeping wicket, opening the bowling, batting, and batting in a number of scenarios and situations for every team from under 10’s up to the first team. Which is pretty impressive considering he can’t bat or field!
Euan Spence
Right-handed batting all-rounder once described as a fat Marcus Trescothick (no foot movement, likes sausages) albeit right-handed and slightly less likely to score 14 test tons. Apparently destined to spend more Saturdays at stag dos and weddings than playing cricket.
David Squires
Left arm bowler who fancies himself a good fielder. Just moved down to London last year after graduating Newcastle Uni. After neglecting cricket in the pursuit of beer for the past 4 years has fallen into disrepair. Hoping some time at Old A's will whip me into shape.
James Stewart
Steve Swann
Age: Mind your god damn business!! Born: Of course, that's why I am here.
Joined Old A's in 2008 and enjoyed an ok season, sadly last year injury hampered any progress. Maybe next year I can move up from the colts into the 3rd's or even 2nd's.
Have been playing for too many years now, but still love the game. Started as a bowler. My first game I had no kit at all, so borrowed a pair of my sisters best white disco trousers (jesus they were tight) a pair of trainers and one of my school shirts. After numerous years I then fancied myself as an all rounder and bowled, fielded in the covers and then batted at no.5 Cricketing hero is Sir Ian Botham. What a legend and Aussie basher he was.
Funniest moment in cricket was when I was playing at an institute against the staff. A good mate of mine was fielding on the boundary and was rugby tackled to the ground by an inmate shouting out he was Tommy the Policeman. Seriously funny but also could have been dangerous
Best of luck to you all this season, play hard, fair, but most of all....enjoy. .
Muktadir Ur Rahman
Dominic Wallace
Joined the club in the mid-nineties as a skinny young medium-pacer (his wife has played netball here for longer still). He is now none of these, but delivers alleged off-spin in the threes and claims to bat a bit. A founder-member of the Grumpy Old Men squad, and also plays for the Old As bridge team, where age and weight are less of a handicap than on the cricket pitch.
