Match report We had lovely weather for our opening game of the season and got off to a successful start. Alex Barton making her debut for the club opened the bowling and ended the inning of a previous Hampstead Captain, just the start we wanted. The new no ball rule had a few of our bowlers in a spot of bother, although the run rate remained relatively low. We had lots of bowling options and maximise on this with another wicket in the 13th over, a lovely ball from Emily Jones to take their other opener. Shortly followed by a third wicket in the same over. Their number 3 & 5 worked hard in the heat to build up a steady partnership, lots of appealing from us, but nothing being rewarded. We continued to change up the bowling, but the heat started taking its toll and our energy levels dropped in the field. An amazing direct hit from Alex run out their number 3. Hampstead were on 171/4. That break through led to a steady fall of wickets for the remainder of the game, wickets for Reshma Garara and another from Emily left Hamstead finishing on 192/8 off their 40.

A lovely spread for lunch including jerk chicken and ice lollies, left a few of us slugish. We were missing our top 4 batters from last season in this line up and opened with two debutants, Alex Barton and Flo Brodrick. Both ladies started well to some really good opening bowling from Hampstead, consistant bowling from their opener took our first wicket in the 3rd over. A slow start, but keeping it ticking over was the main aim, Flo batted well watching the rest of the team lose wickets at the other end before being caught on 35, hoping to accelerate. A hard game with a line up packed full of bowlers, we finished on 59 all out of 31 overs.
