Let's get physical! It's time to think about getting in shape for the new season... As we all know, fitness training can be boring at the best of times. With this in mind, we are keen to organise a trip with a bit of exercise, a LOT of fun and thought why not see some of Europe in the process...
With that all said, I would like to formally welcome you all to the inaugural 'Actonians Top Gear Amsterdam Special'
The premise is to purchase a bicycle for up to £50. What ever change you get out of your £50 can be & should be spent on making performance upgrades and decorating it. We will then all convene with our machines at Harwich International Port (1.5 hour train from Liverpool Street) to catch the 11pm sailing on April 7th which arrives in Hook of Holland Port (near Rotterdam) at 8am on Saturday 8th. At this point we will rent a support vehicle (Hitesh Patel has agreed to follow with refreshments, first aid, encouragement/banter) and then make our way up to Amsterdam on bike (approx. 80km or 4 hours easy riding). In true Top Gear style, we will have 'Producers Challengers' along the way - think Bicycle Polo, Relay Races, Longest Skid, Longest Wheelie, etc. There will be a £5 entry fee which will be fundraising for the club for the new season, and we will be raising money for charity as we go (so people can sponsor you on a just giving page, as well as shaking a bucket to collect some Euro's). You will be encouraged to sell your mean machine to the good people of Amsterdam upon arrival with your proceeds being split equally between the club and charity (more points for most money generated). Prize Giving will be in a bar on the Saturday night. Sunday 9th - we are looking at organising a T-20 with a club in Amsterdam. You will then be free to travel home on the Sunday night or stay another night and fly home Monday. Approx. costs are: Train to Harwich £30
