Match report On a sunny afternoon, Old A’s won the toss and elected to bat. Preeti and Lauren were put in to bat first. Preeti was unlucky to be out on a good catch in the 4thover. Katie then went in to bat with Lauren still at the crease. At 20 overs they were both still there but in the 23rd over Katie fell for 51. They had a fun partnership of 102 which took our total from 17-1 to 129-2. With 7 overs remaining we needed to score as many runs as possible to bump up our total. Salma chipped in with a respectable 18 runs as well as Lucy with an un-selfish 5 not out. Lauren played a fantastic innings and finished with 82 not out, making our total a defendable 190-3.

With a nice total under our belts we went in to the field, feeling quietly confident, with Nancy and Preeti opening the bowling. With a wicket taken on Nancy’s 3rd ball of the over and a great catch from Lauren hopes were high. But then Harrow Town dug in and at first drinks were 56-1. After drinks we knuckled down in the field and were quickly on every ball rather than throwing it over the boundary!!! Caroline steadied the bowling with a good 6 overs and Debbie definitely showed us the way in the field with her athletic one handed stops behind the stumps to prevent extras totting up. A few wonderful stops by Carlene as well as Katy O in the deep did limit the runs, as well as some fine stops from Lucy, but we really did need a wicket. In the 17th over a great throw by Nancy to Debbie created a run out and that’s when the wickets started to fall. Salma contributed with 3 wickets and Preeti with 2 as well as 2 run outs (Nancy and Asma). Preeti finished the match with amazing bowling figures 6 overs-2 maidens-11 runs-2 wickets. Asma chipped in with a good 2 overs to make sure the total was too much for Harrow. In the end, Harrow Town were only able to finish on 166-7.

It was a great match to play in as well as to watch. Thank you to Andrew for scoring the first innings with mum and bringing addition players to play. You all contributed vastly to the much needed win and hope you will be a regular player on the team soon. Thank you to Mum for scoring, Dad for umpiring and for all our other supporters on the side lines.

I personally had a really fun time captaining with Lauren and thank Maz and Cath for giving both of us the opportunity. I would also want to thank the team for the support you all gave us even though we are not the regular captains.
