                                        REPORT 2015

The improved weather helped to make 2015 a much better season in many ways. At one point three of our six teams were in the top half of their division but availability and injuries meant that we fell behind in some towards the end of the season. Having registration evening earlier helped us find out where we had space for new members so we will again have it in early March and also bring the payment deadline forward.

Under 9’s - This year we managed to arrange four matches for this age group. Each game was very competitive and all the results were close. We will try and arrange a similar number in 2016 however please note that we still need more help with this age group on a Sunday morning and with the matches.

Under 9 - Record - Played 4 Won 2 Lost 2 Tied 0 Abandoned 0

Under 10’s – For us this was not such a good year as this the standard was much higher and we were comfortably beaten in some of the matches. We had a large and enthusiastic squad with some very good players whose progress we look forward to monitoring over the coming seasons. As usual we entered the Ealing festival but this was cancelled as too many clubs could not get sides out.

Under 10 - Record - Played 10 Won 1 Lost 7 Abandoned 2 – League Position 7TH

Under 11’s – This was an excellent season with an enthusiastic group of players all of whom made good progress. Most runs were scored by Joshua Moerdyk, George Chatterton and Archie Chapman with good support from Ben Cook, Charlie Pooley and Sam Jarman. The bowling was not as consistent but Sam Jarman took most wickets closely followed by Alfie Davis.

Under 11 - Record – Played 12 Won 9 Lost 2 Abandoned 1 Tied 0 - League Position 2ND

Under 12’s – Now that there is an unofficial league for this age group we entered a team as this allowed us to give many more players a regular match. They responded with enthusiasm and there were many fine performances. Most runs were scored by Saran Gill with good support from Rayyaan Kazi, Sam Scuderi and Charlie Pooley. Saran Gill also took most wickets with good support from Alfie Morrison

Under 12 - Record - Played 10 Won 5 Lost 5 Abandoned 0

Under 13’s – Being in the top division meant that this was always going to be a tough season and it was hoped that the players would step up to the plate. They all tried their best but only a few were able to raise their game enough to make a difference. Sam Boughton scored most runs with good support from Oliver Heyes and Henry Chapman. Most wickets were taken by Marcus Neill closely followed by Oliver Heyes and Jack Maiden.

Under 13 - Record - Played 12 Won 1 Lost 9 Abandoned 2 - League Position 6TH

Under 14’s – We did enter a team a team into this unofficial league but there were no other entries

Under 15’s – This team were also in the top division and should have done better but availability was a problem and we also needed to be more consistent, Most runs as expected were scored by Remy Hart-Badger with good support from Zunair Ahmed and William Chatterton. William also took most wickets closely followed by Timothy Wallace.

Under 15 - Record - Played 12 Won 4 Lost 7 Abandoned 1 - League Position 4TH

Under 17’s – For us this was a poor season as not only were we short of numbers the availability was erratic. Those who played gave of their best but we were very inconsistent. Mathew Gurkin scored most runs closely followed by Ramon Bailey and Katie Davies. William Sylvester took most wickets. We will again have this age groups practice on a Tuesday evening with the adults as it is more beneficial to all concerned.

Under 17 Record Played 7 Won 2 Lost 5 Abandoned 0 Tied 0 - League Position 6TH

Girls – During the winter we again spent a lot of time and effort encouraging Girls to play Cricket with Indoor nets and coaching sessions in Schools. As with last year we did have some success but like several other Girls sections in the County we struggled to get enough to get a full team out for every match. As a result it was agreed at the Girls County meeting that, to get as many games played as possible, the minimum number for each age group would be 8 but that if possible 11 should be aimed at.

Under 11s – Although we did not start the season with enough players, we tried wherever possible to play our matches and did manage to get a full team out for the last match.

Under 11 Record Played 6 Won 1 Lost 5 Abandoned 0

Under 13’s – Thanks to the U11’s turning out we managed to field a team for most matches

Under 13 Record Played 5 Won 0 Lost 3 Abandoned 2

Under 15’s –.We fielded a team for every match played thanks to help from the U13’s but the quality of the opposition was too good for us.

Under 15 Record Played 5 Won 0 Lost 3 Abandoned 2

Colts Day – “One of the best days ever” was the feedback from several parents as we again mixed the Boys and Girls together. This made it highly competitive and as a result very entertaining to watch. With the refreshments including a popular BBQ at lunchtime and a well attended presentation evening, when all the children’s achievements were recognised and the day finished with a good O.A’s buffet.

Nets - Regular attendance is essential if a player is to improve and it is easier to do a check of team selection if players are present. Any player not at nets who has not given his availability to his Team Manager in advance RUNS THE RISK OF NOT BEING SELECTED as it will be assumed that, by their absence they are not available for the next game.

Team Selection – Whilst trying to give everyone a game we do also try and select the best team available and would ask parents to respond as quickly as possible to the e-mail sent out by Team Managers.

Membership for 2016 – With more people training as coaches during the winter and plans to use the facilities at our second Ground in Boddington Gardens every Sunday morning we are hoping that we can increase our numbers in some age groups.

Senior Section - One obvious aim for the Colts Section is to provide new members for the Senior Teams. Here I am pleased to report that the following played for the Club during the 2015 season and several played every weekend.
