BIG NEWS! Old Actonians played a cricket match OUTDOORS!!!!
Alas, it wasn't the cup match at Edmonton (postponed until Sunday 13th May), but a good practice nonetheless against UWLCC before the League season kicks off THIS SATURDAY (12th May). We have FOUR fixtures, see you at training on Tuesday to prepare.

On Saturday (5th May), the 1st XI travelled up to Edmonton but unfortunately, and rather unsurprisingly, the ground was unplayable and a beautiful drizzle had set in - a big shame as we would probably have got a game in at Old A's (our outfield again proving to be miraculous). A net in some chilly sunshine and the FA Cup final in the bar had to suffice for entertainment. That game has now been rearranged for Sunday, so PLEASE INDICATE YOUR AVAILABILITY on the website.

Sunday brought Josh Jayakar's University of West London Cricket Club to Gunnersbury Drive in a hastily arranged fixture following the cancellation of the previous weekend's Bessborough fixtures. The visitors won a competitive match by three wickets with five overs to spare. You can read Ali Slaughter's excellent match report here (scorecard to be uploaded asap). Although we lost, the most important thing was to get some Old A's players in whites (something several less fortunate clubs in the area have not managed thanks to this atrocious so-called Spring), and there were positive performances from new overseas player Trent Conwell, Aaron Swan and Piradeepan Sivanathan especially.

Monday the weather was kind enough to allow around 20 or so of us a trip to Lord's to watch Middlesex lose by 5 wickets against Gloucestershire in a reduced over (26) affair in the CV40 League. Not sure if we learnt anything from what happened on the field, but we certainly got good practice in at standing around in the cold - looking useful for the first weeks of the season.
