Match report Old Actonians won the toss and elected to field. It looked like a bad choice to make as Chesham raced away to 23 off the first 5 overs. Viola Lough bowled the dangerous opener, who has been their main run scorer this season. Chesham were still trying to force the run rate and started taking quick singles, until Marilyn Smith and Oclevia Poynter combined for a run out. Amy van Collomberg came on to bowl, and soon bowled the other opener. At drinks, 58 for 3 off 15 felt a lot better. We set ourselves the target of bowling them out for under 100. Reshma Garrera, Lucy Davies and Sarah Baigent all took wickets, and Lucy a fine run out leaving Chesham reeling on 94 for 7 after 25 overs. Amy van Collomberg and Marilyn Smith came back on and took the final 2 wickets, bowling out Chesham for 99. By bowling them out for under 100, we deprived them of a batting point, which could be crucial at the end of the season.
Sarah Baigent and Katie Davies opened the batting, and took off at a gallop. Sarh was bowled on 6 and Marilyn Smith came to the crease. Katie continued with excellent aggresive batting, until she was caught for 46. She had taken the score up to 68, and put us in a good position for victory. Lucy Davies came in with a quickfire 6, and then Marilyn and Oclevia Poynter saw the team home, winning in the 19th over.
Excellent team performance again, with tight bowling well supported by keen fielding. Followed up with a mixture of powerful and careful batting.
We have Chesham again next week, this time at home
