Match report A good toss to win. Oclevia and Sarah opened again, although Oclevia was taken by surprise with the slow pace of the bowling and looped one up to square, bringing debutante Kelsey Toner to the crease. Kelsey and Sarah batted well for 6 overs until Sarah was unluckily bowled for 13. Marilyn Smith came to the crease, and the pair of them steadily got their eye in, bringing the score up to 40 off 10 overs. We had set a target of 150 off 20 overs, so it was time to accelerate. 105 off the next 10 overs did the trick, with Kelsey ending up unbeaten on 69 and Marilyn on 50.
145 was a good total, and it was made very difficult for Eastcote when Antonia Welch hit the stumps to run out the opener without facing a ball. Viola Lough and Antonia bowled very tightly, restricting Eastcote to 9 off the first 6 overs. Antonia bowled 3 maidens and took one wicket. Amy van Collomberg and Reshma Garrera continued to bowl tightly, and reshma took 2 wickets for 11 runs. Lauren Oliver took a good catch at cover, making sure she was in the scorebook too!. Lucy Davies and Salma Virk tore the heart out of Eastcote. Lucy took 2 wickets for 1 run off 3 overs, and Salma took 3 wickets for 4 runs off 2.5 overs. Sarah Baigent only had one over, and this was a wicket maiden.
Excellent tight bowling and fielding to support the high total. Again, excellent cricket and spirit all round. Through to the next round of the cup. Well done everyone for a great team performance
Next week we are back to the league, playing Chesham away on Sunday 1st June. 1.30pm start at their main ground, only the 2nd time the ladies have been allowed to play there in 3 years. Lets keep up this high standard of play and show them how well women cricketers can play. Make sure you get your availability in early if you can play
