Actonians Cricket Club Womens 1st XI v Richmond Ladies on Thu 25 Jun 2015 at 6.30pm
Actonians Cricket Club Won

Match report Some of us arrived at the club to find the pitch hadn't been marked out for us, but never fear when Givon and Scotty are near. We are lucky to be apart of a club that comes together to help each other out when needed! A huge thank you to you both and Aaron for painting/spraying the wicket for us!

The second and biggest thank you has to go to Maz and Edna for playing for Richmond, as they could only muster 6 players for the game. I know it was hard, specially near the end when it was a bit too tight for comfort but it made the game much more worthwhile.

We started off in the field with Camille and Gemma bowling tightly. Salma took a great catch off the last ball of Gemma's first over. We welcomed back Salma, who continued her great form from last season, Anj held on to a flat ball to give Salma her first wicket of the season. After a slow start Richmond started playing a more aggressive game as Carlene and Anj came on to bowl, Richmond opener Emma was just starting to get comfortable when a ball from Elsa pushed her back in her crease resulting in her hitting the stumps. We created pressure in the field, fielding tightly and not giving allowing them to find too many gaps, however the wides tallied up pushing their score to 123 at the end on the innings.

Amy and Sanaa opened the batting looking for quick runs, leading to Sanaa being run out after making a positive start on her debut game. Gemma joined Amy in the middle who had to face an over from our very own Edna (great maiden over). The two remained patient, leaving the wide balls and pushing for quick singles slowly building the score before Gemma was caught. Elsa went in and continued working with Amy getting those quick singles before they both retired to allow two more ladies some time in the middle. Debbie and Salma, were put under a bit of pressure with us requiring over 10 runs an over in the last 3 overs, both Salma and Debbie batted aggressively, hitting the bad balls and rotating strike keeping the runs coming. An expensive over from the Richmond Captain meant we needed 8 of 8, they pushed hard with Debbie hitting a four to finish the game with four balls remaining.

Good fielding followed by an exciting chase. Lots to take from the game and work on in training. The next Middlesex League game is at home to Ickenham on Thursday 9th July. If you want to play before then we are away at Hampstead on Sunday 5th July for the North London League. Please let myself or Maz know your availability if you haven't done so already. Training continues on both Tuesday (6.45-8.30) and Thursday (6.30-8.30) evening.

Final thank you to Givon and Josh for umpiring and scoring.

See you all at training during the week to work on our bowling :)
