Actonians Cricket Club Womens 1st XI v Hampstead Ladies on Sun 27 May 2018 at 11.00am
Actonians Cricket Club Won by 3 runs

Match report A warm muggy afternoon, we had 2 new debutants this week, Amy Gallagher taking her first step into senior ladies cricket and an ex dukemead player Karina Lo Dico stepping in to play a game for the A's.
One short only hours before to a squad of 12 at the toss, which Lucy won and chose to put Hampstead out in the sticky humid conditions.
Debbie Curtis and Lily Powell opened the batting and looked to be settling in well until a good catch left Lily walking back in the 2 over. A slow start with a few a few loss of wickets had us 32 for 4 at the half way stage, we needed step on the peddle a bit to get us to a defend-able score. Reshma went in at 5 and tried to keep the strike rotating (even at the expense of running a partner out) and the run ticking, getting to team to a respectable score of 91.

Amy opened the bowling supported by Alex Barton on the other end. Both bowled well, giving away little in the first 6 overs, this bought on a change which saw Karina and Emma take the ball, who both bowled well and were backed up by some great work in the field. The warm weather didn't leave us too lethargic, the athleticism and awareness on the field led to 2 run outs (a great throw in from the boundary from Emma making it easy for Debbie to take off the bails and a great direct hit from Alex at a tight angle to see off Ex Actonian Meghana Bhide) before half way which had Hampstead 35/2. The heat started to take its toll, but we continued to put on the pressure and were finally rewarded with another wicket in the 17th over, another run out for Emma making the game finger bitingly close/exciting for the growing crowds. Hampstead were 71/3 after the 17th over, With lots of options, Lucy continues to change up the blowing putting herself on from the other end leading to a wicket for her. It came down to the last over, 7 runs were needed for them to win, They were looking to run singles on each bowl, but Emma kept the bowling tight, giving them no room to play any shots worth running on.

Really good game ladies, great team work and backing each other in the field. Great captaincy by Lucy!
