Match report Written last night so this one is on time!!

Probably the furthest away game of the season we travelled to Hutton. Reshma lost the toss and we were put into field. Alex and Emily opened up the bowling. With the very short boundary Hutton started off well until Emily got the breakthrough, with a superb one handed catch from Maz to dismiss one of the openers. Emily’s next over saw a ‘mystery ball’ knock over the stumps to dismiss their baffled number 3. So we had the 53-2 off 8 overs. The next breakthrough came in the 13th over from Alex landing straight into Lucy’s hands. Some tight bowling from the openers. The next change, Maz and Lucy came on. Fielders really dug in with some great chasing from Giovanna and great takes from Debbie. Lucy got the next breakthrough in the 25th over with another catching cameo from Maz at gully. Definitely safe hands there! Great pressure from Lucy with a maiden then wicket maiden, then another wicket in the next over saw her take the batsmen’s stumps out. 137-5 but we needed to get their other opener. On came Neha after Maz bowled a tight spell. Neha took her wicket in the 32nd over bowled but deserved more. Reshma and Emma came on to see out the overs. Lovely presh from Resh saw their opener loft one straight to Alex who took a superb juggling catch on the boundary. Hutton finished up with 219-7 off their 40.

After tea with the sun now shining Maz and Katie opened up. Basically a 1 or 4 pitch meant we saw quite a few boundaries. Despite the change of bowlers both seemed to stick in. Some quick fours from Katie in the bushes saw her reach her 50 shortly followed by a 50 from Maz. At drinks we were 112-0 keeping up with the run rate. Continuing to stick in and knock the ball around saw the score keep gaining. Hutton really wanted a wicket and their breakthrough came in the 30th over when Katie went to hit it back over the bowler’s head but didn’t hit it and was out LBW for 86 ending the 164 partnership. The same bowler managed to get Alex with it cutting in off the seam. Lucy had a short partnership with Maz building to 180 before she was bowled. In came Reshma who batted well pushing those singles with Maz. Reshma fell to the same bowler and in came Giovanna. Managed to see off the fast bowler. Unfortunately, Giovanna fell to a good catch and in came Debbie. 20 needed off 24 balls it was going to be tight. No problem with Debbie and Maz at the crease. Maz reached her 100 batting superbly and quite aptly hit the winning runs for 4 sending Debbie back to make sure she got the 4 runs!! Maz ending with 107*.

A superb run chase and all round team performance. Let’s keep up this positivity for the next game against Wanstead on the 2nd September. This is our last game and keeping up the great standards mean we can try our best to finish on a high.
