Match report It was always going to be a tough game against Hampstead 2nd Xi, on a hot, blustery day. Their 1st XI fixture was cancelled so the 1st XI players were supporting them from the sidelines. And...
Hampstead batted first. Alex took a wicket 1st ball, so we thought we were in. Then their next bats put on a partnership, until Ellie Porter was caught by Debbie off Maz, and then Sal Dixon caught Maz off Gio's bowling. Just the rest of the team to get out then! Everyone chipped in, run outs from Maz and Alex, Alex took 2 more wickets, and Giovanna took 2. Another caught behind from Debbie. Good overs from Amy and Emma.
Keely and Maz opened the batting, scoring 34 and 18. Alex and Lucy kept us up with the run rate, Alex getting 13. Gio chipped in with 15, Emma 9, and then there were a series of run outs. Megan and Cathy scored their first runs for Actonians, and Lucy was star batter, being not out on 56, with Amy not out on 1.
We ended up 3 runs short of the total. Lots to think about for next match - giving away runs in the field, bowling too many wides. Lots of positives too to go forward to the next match, which is Harrow away next week.
Get your availabilities in - Katie is back as captain for the rest of the season. Well done Alex for stepping in and taking on the captaincy stress!
