Match report This Sunday found us making the long journey out east to Hackney Marshes to face Stoke Newington. It was a relatively grey day, with rain clouds threatening on arrival, but thankfully these went away not long into the match.
The skipper managed to win the toss, putting us in to bowl. With one player short, it was important for bowlers to be disciplined with their lines, and they did this very successfully. Wickets were shared all round, and economies were kept low, with everyone keeping at 1 or lower. Antonia was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for only 1 run, and we were able to bowl out the home side for 15 runs. After a short break, Keely and Lucy set out to bat, and we were able to chase it down in just under 2 overs, with Keely finishing on 15 off of 8 balls.
After the match, Stoke Newington put on a lovely tea, and invited us to stay a bit longer to play a short T10, to enjoy the newly revealed sunshine. In this friendly game, the team were finally able to convince Katie and Aoife to show off their hidden bowling talent, with the pair of batters taking a total of 3 wickets between them. The games were both played in good spirits, with lots of fun had all round, making the long journey east worth it.
