Lovely country ground: possible fixture at Braywood on Bank Holiday Monday 27th August

21 Aug 2012

Evening guys,

Braywood CC in Berkshire - about 30 minutes drive from Old A's - is looking for a fixture for their annual club day next Monday, the bank holiday of the 27th August, after their usual opposition pulled out. They have invited us to fill the spot, as our regular fixture there fell victim to the rain earlier in the season.

For those of you who haven't played before, Braywood (www.braywoodcricketclub.co.uk) is a lovely club in the country with strong ties to Old A's. Our very own Chairman Mr Mahoney played there for over 30 years before moving to play for Old Actonians, while Olly and Andy's Dad Stuart, who coached for more than 10 years at Old A's, is chairman of and now runs the juniors at Braywood.

A warm welcome is guaranteed, and there will be a barbecue to feed us up after the game, which will probably start around 2pm - depending on how long a format we wish to play. For kids or just the young at heart, there is apparently a bouncy castle too...

However, this fixture is dependent on us being able to firstly get a side out, and secondly being able to find enough drivers to get us down out to the ground (it's just a short drive up the M4).

If you would like to play, please reply to me (ollyswest@gmail.com) as soon as possible indicating AVAILABILITY and WHETHER YOU CAN PROVIDE TRANSPORT. Any friends who you are maybe hoping to persuade to join Old A's next year may also find they have the chance to make their debut.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Cheers
Olly
