Robbos Round Up 18th/19th July

Clubman of the Week: Sport during this difficult pandemic period has almost seemed a bit irrelevant as tens of thousands of lives has been lost, while others have lost jobs and their livelihoods. In terms of our own heroes at the Club, a number have fronted up on the front line working in important services such as the Ambulance Service, Schools, Security and the NHS and we wholeheartedly thank them for that. We indeed hope that cricket gives you some small respite in these tricky times.

In terms of getting our cricket season up and running we have had a number of heroes, too many to list, however the obvious legend is Clifford Pile who of course runs our junior section and over the past weeks has spent many hours at the club ensuring the ground is Covid compliant and ensuring our members can safely enjoy their practise or game. He is our clubman of the week.

Team of the Week: Hard to go past the 1s with a comprehensive victory against 2019 Div 3 side Harrow Town.

Player of the Week: Mike Lever, who was introduced to the club by Dave Gorvin, scored 101 in the Club XI fixture, his innings was a true spectacle with some glorious classical cricket shots played all round the ground. We hope to see a lot more of his skill over the course of the season!

In general it was a week for our new or returning players! You should all pat yourselves on the back for welcoming them in our normal friendly spirit and enabling them to clearly feel comfortable out on the pitch! Former Colt Gupreet ‘Chippy’ Dhami scored 97 for the 1s, while one our top 20 1st XI league run scorers of all time, Craig Nel scored 52 for the Club XI. We also had Scott Trainor who debuted for the 1s scoring 46, Harry Singh 93 for the 4s, Mike Lever 101 for the Club XI and Jayson Fernandes, 57, also for the Club XI
