Brian Eden, Vice President of Actonians Cricket Club, passed away on Friday 1st October. Brian was a fine cricketer and footballer for Old Actonians for many years. After making his reputation as an aggressive quick bowler with the club Brian went onto play his cricket at Brentham in the Middlesex County Cricket League taking 136 1st XI wickets and as a mark of his ability he was selected for the Club Cricket Conference.
As well as being a fine cricketer he was arguably an even better footballer and played together in the Old Actonians side that won the AFA Senior cup, a feat that had only been achieved once before in the club’s history. A measure of his ability is that Actonians scored nine goals from the quarter finals onwards and he scored all of those goals.
