Weekend update - 02/07/2012

That's more like it!

The 1st team stretched their unbeaten run to three with their second convincing victory in two matches.Old Lyonians were bowled out for just over 100 with the wickets shared, and Raj (42*) led an unproblematic run chase. Previously, Trent and James (four wickets each) had put league leaders MTSSC to the sword.Scorecards for those two matches here (or they will be soon!).

Hopefully a sign of what the team is capable of, especially with full availability - as has been the case for the last two weeks (and long may that continue). The league remains tight (see tables on the website) so a with a run of results anything is possible. The 1s take on Osterley at home on Saturday.

Elsewhere, the good times were also rolling for Vish's 4s, who picked up their second win of the season on Saturday against Crouch End. The less said about the 2s' and 3s' weekends the better for now, but rest assured that improved bowling and fielding (2s) and batting (3s) will see both teams pick up 10 points on Saturday!

The ladies made the trip up to Harrow Town to take on Headstone Manor, only to find that the men had forgotten to put the covers on the night before - cue a comprehensive victory for the rain and puddles all over the square. Maz makes a special mention in her match report of how well Frank and we as a club look after the square, and so a torrential lunchtime downpour ruined any chances of the Tri-series taking place on the wicket. Nevertheless, a good time was had by all in bar and on outfield…(though a steward's inquiry is being held into Clifford walking away a rich man from the spread betting on England's 20/20…)

I highly recommend you check out Sean Lester's most recent handiwork behind the lens: he's taken somegreat photos of the last couple of weekends, some of which are on the website front page (below), others in the galleries.

After the successes of the quiz night (just about pulled it off) and the ladies barbecue, a reminder that the 1st XI is hosting a RACE NIGHT on the 14th July (see right). Tickets are £10 each and including food (apparently from the home of a certain Mr Lara). If you cannot attend, you can support the night by buying horses at £5 each or sponsoring a race and you can still be in with a chance of getting your hands on cash prizes!  Contact Clifford for more details.

Finally, apologies for the slow updating of the website recently. If anyone would like to help in any way - whether it's writing weekly updates, writing match reports or other ideas for content (the new members have so far got off lightly in terms of look-a-likes!) - please email ollyswest@gmail.com or grab me at nets/on the weekend. Even helping out once a month or so would be welcome.
