Match report The day started well, with a successful cake and cookie sale and barbeque fundraiser, and we started the match in good spirits. Cath Goold was back as captain, and stamped her authority on the match top scoring with 39 runs. Katie Davies supported well with 14 runs, and then Marilyn Smith chipped in with 38 not out, and Ally Panton scored an unbeaten 18 in her first game for the ladies. The score was helped by a huge helping of wides from Eastcote, so we ended up on 196 for 3 off our 30 overs. The magic 200 will have to wait for another week.
Emine Oktay and Viola Lough opened the bowling. Viola in particular bowled tightly, only going for 4 runs off her 4 overs. At the other end, Emine took 3 wickets for 19 runs off her 4 overs. Rasna Sandhu and Ally Panton then took up the attack. Rasna took 2 wickets for 9 runs, but Ally came out with the best figures of the day, taking 4 wickets for just 6 runs. She also got the biggest fine of the day for saying sorry to the batsman she got out, once before the ball had actually hit the stumps. Catches were taken by Cath Goold and Ally Panton, and Kathy Lee took a sharp stumping. An excellent performance from the whole team. If we can keep this up for the rest of the season, we'll be in the top division next year. The mix of youth and experience is certainly working well, and I'm looking forward to next week already.
