Match report On a baking hot day, we lost the toss and were put in to field by Eastcote. Marilyn and Sarah opened the bowling, and Sarah took the first wicket to break up a useful opening partnership of 35. Viola and Mags then took over, and Viola took another timely wicket, to break the backbone of another promising partnership. Tasha then came on and took 2 wickets in 2 overs to get rid of Eastcote's top scorer, who was looking dangerous with 38 runs. Sarah came back on and took the wicket of another strong bat, who was hitting the ball cleanly for her 34 runs. We then had a run out - not sure who was most instrumental as the ball seemed to go backwards and forwards before it broke the stumps, and the Eastcote resistance was broken. Their final score was 132 for 8 in their 30 overs. Sarah took 2 wickets for 32, Tasha 2 for 10and Viola 3 for 36. Everyone played their part in the field, with Debbie and Katie sharing the keeping, and Asma and Carlene running miles in the baking heat.
Cath and Katie opened the batting, and stayed there! An opening partnership of 136 in 22 overs has to go down as a record for us. Fantastic batting (and concentration) by both, with Katie ending up on 55 not out, and Cath 29 not out. Wendy Wide owes us a jug for her 52 runs! this victory should hopefully consolidate 3rd place in the league, and thus a place in the top division next season.
Next week is our last match, away to Wanstead CC, who havent lost a match in 2 years. Time for us to break that record too!
