Thatcham Town v Actonians Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 04 May 2013 at 1.30pm
Actonians Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report The 1st XI ventured to the grassy royal meadows of Berkshire to take on Thatcham Town in a pre season warm up game. In the team were just three survivors from last Saturday’s clash against Bessborough, as weddings, work commitments and rugby trips hampered availability.
New club pro and stand in captain Cameron French lost the toss and the Axemen were sent into the field. Taking the new ball were Scott Ensom and Sha Khan. The two opening batsmen for Thatcham (Schreiber and Denness) were into their work, as they quickly took the score through to 75 before Piradeepan Sivanathan snared the first wicket after a fine running catch by the French. Keir Smith, in his first game for the Axemen, bowled without much luck but it was Villi Tosi (a former Manawatu (NZ) representative cricketer) who put a stop to the TTCC batsmen getting away. He dismissed the dangerous Schreiber and combined well with French as they clawed back the Thatcham run rate. However a few more lusty blows by the Thatcham batsmen near the end of their 45th over provided a very competitive target of 239
After a fine spread of Thatcham's finest cuisine, Old As commenced their innings. Scott Ensom and the young man Aaron Swan opened the Old As account and both played quite beautifully. Ensom was especially ruthless on anything short and at the half way stage Old As had not lost a wicket and had amassed 125. When Swan was dismissed for 37 it was the turn of last season's star Hrishi Puranik however his time at the crease was short as he danced down the pitch and was stumped. French then re-entered the game and it was him at the other end when Ensom surpassed 100 runs. Runs were easily to come by from the on as The Axemen rolled past 239 in the 40th over with Ensom unbeaten on 145 and captain French on 33.
After a few beers with the Thatcham lads and a customary Old As boat race (not of the Thames River variety) it was back into West London courtesy of London's (and maybe the worlds) only Pakistani Cowboy Wasif.
