Hampstead Ladies Cup final v Actonians Cricket Club Womens 1st XI on Sun 14 Sep 2014 at 2.30pm
Actonians Cricket Club Won

Match report Cup semi and finals Sunday 14 September
We were drawn against Underhill in the semi final, who turned out to be very similar to Potters Bar when we played them 3 years ago!. We lost the toss and were put in to bat. Marilyn Smith (16) and Antonia Welch (15) started solidly. Katie Davies hit a quick 9 runs and then Kelsey Toner took control, with an excellent 42 not out, supported by Lucy Davies with 10 not out.
131 was always a tough total for Underhill, and Antonia Welch ( 1for 13) and Kelsey Toner (2 for 7) really tightened the screws. Ellie Bourne (1 for 17) and Viola Lough (0 for 14) really put the pressure on. With 56 runs off 15 overs Underhill were in trouble, and Marilyn Smith (2 for 10) and Lucy Davies (1 for 5) finished the job off, so Old Actonians won by 51 runs.
Lunch was followed by the final against Hampstead, who had beaten High Wycombe in the other semi final. A shaky start by Old Actonians (Marilyn Smith 5, Antonia Welch 0 and Katie Davies 3) had us reeling at 24 for 3 off 5 overs. Kelsey Toner came to the rescue again, with 31 runs. Ellie Bourne and Lucy Davies scored runs, but Viola Lough (37 ) and Preeti Kate (8 not out) took our score to 110. Hampstead did not think we had enough, and started confidently. Antonia Welch soon took 3 wickets to reduce them to 30 for 3 off 7 overs. Kelsey Toner, Marilyn Smith and Viola Lough took wickets, but it was Lucy Davies who took the vital wicket of Ange Bonara in the 15th over. Her 42 runs were the only Hampstead score in double figures and once she was gone the heart was gone from their innings. Simple maths told us the game was ours with 3 overs to go. Hampstead finished on 95 for 9 off their 20 overs and WE WON THE CUP
Excellent days cricket. The reason we won? We played as a team, with everyone contributing to batting, bowling, fielding, support. The first ever trophy for Old Actonian’s Ladies, and we fully deserved it. We have depth in batting and bowling, and are all excellent fielders. It was great to see how everyone has developed and improved over the last couple of years, and you should all be proud of yourselves. Make sure you can all attend the end of season dinner on Saturday 4th October to collect trophies and the accolade from the men as the team in the adult cricket section to win a trophy this year!
Nice one ladies !!!!!!
