Match report With half the team sat in traffic at the official start time, the first Middlesex 20 over Ladies League finally got underway a little after 6.30. Ickenham won the toss and electing to bowl first. Lucy Davies and Carlene Bender opened, getting us off to a good start with a boundary to start. A straight ball at the end of the first over got Carlene, in went Gemma Hill who worked well with Lucy to get the score to 55 off 6. Lucy retired on 32, which saw Reshma Garara at the crease. A ball that stayed low took saw Gemma heading back to join the rest of the team. Anjlee Soni making her debut came out to bat, another low ball that was hard to play sent her back. Just as Katy O'Sullivan (4) was looking comfortable, she was given out lbw, we continued to struggle with the low bouncing balls with Debbie Curtis being dismissed in the same manner. With runs slowing down the aim was to find gaps and run hard, consequently Reshma was run out on 5. Kelsey Toner went in to make a quick 8 then feel victim of another low staying ball. Camille Harrison and Katie Davies steadied played a steady game to see us through the 20 overs finishing on 143-7.

The second innings saw us battling not only against the Ickenham batting order, but also the sunlight. The bowling was shared around, Katy O'Sullivan started off the innings with a maiden over and was rewarded with wickets finishing on 2-7. Gemma Hill bowled well leaving Ickenham 15-2 off the first 5 overs. Anjlee Soni and Carlene Bender came of to bowl from the other end, Anjlee taking her first ever club wicket. The bowling attack continued with Camille Harrison and Katie Davies, with Katie taking a wicket on her final delivery. Bowling was well backed up with great fielding a direct hit from Reshma Garara sent back the opener and put pressure on the batting side. Kelsey Toner and Lucy Davies finished off the bowling leaving Ickenham 54 runs short of the target. A great start to the Middlesex 20 Over League, with some positive cricket. Next Middlesex League game home next Thursday at 6!
