Match report Only 10 players again - what is happening to us?
We won the toss and decided to bat on a pretty decent wicket at High Wycombe. Maz and Amy opened again, and punished some wayward bowling. Amy got 6 runs and brought Katie to the crease. She hit the ball hard as usual, and their captain felt the full force as she tried to stop a bullet. Ice needed. Still, her hand got better when she caught Maz out on 47! Katie hit a quick 23 and then Lucy and Antonia came to the crease. They moved the ball around well, with good running between the wickets. Antonia got 16. Edna cam in for the final couple of overs and got 2 not out. Lucy was the star of the batting though, with 56 not out.
High Wycombe opened their batting aggressively. Well, one of them did. She ended on 70 not out out of their total 91! We had the tactic of take wickets at the other end and it worked. First, Antonia took out bats 2, 3 and 4, all bowled. The Edna and Lucy came on. Lucy bowled really well, quick and accurate, and fully justified her 5 wickets for 4 runs in 4 overs. Again, all bowled. She was twice on a hat trick. At the other end, Edna joined in. She too took a wicket, bowled. Could we completely bowl out the side, literally?
No, as the 10th wicket was a stumping off Edna. Debbie deserved that, as this was one of her tightest keeping displays, only 2 byes.
All out for 91 in 19 overs, so in for an early tea
So, Actonians Ladies have more success. The day belonged to Lucy - 56 not out and 5 for 4 off 4. Well played everyone
Lets home we can put out a full side for our next match, against Hampstead at home on Sunday 5th July. All exams should be finished, holidays havent started so there should be loads of you available.
