Match report On a soggy Ickenham main pitch, we batted first. Again, we only had 10 players, but the men's 1st XI beat Ickenham away with only 10 players last week, so why shouldn’t we?
Maz and Keeley opened, but runs were hard to come by through the long wet grass of the outfield, and some tight bowling. They put on 41 before Keeley was run out by an excellent direct throw to one stump, for 22. Katie came in at 3, and showed reall maturity in her batting, finding the gaps, hitting hard to push the field back and then hitting softly to run quick singles. Definitely the way to bat for next year, until she was caught out for 20. Edna came in next, and with her now trademark attacking style she soon reached 20. Maz kept plugging away and was caught playing a loose one back to the bowler in the 27th over, for 57. Amy came in with Edna, and they worked hard to get 125 on the board. Amy was run out for 3 trying to get the team score up. Reshma came in in the last over, and the final score was 127.
Maz and Katie Davies opened the bowling. The tactic of Katie bowling paid off as she took a wicket caught and bowled with her first ball! This brought Jo Wilson to then crease with Julie Fielder. This pair batted very well and sensibly. Our bowling was tight, but they gave no chances. Maz, Reshma and Edna bowled 4 overs, Keeley, Katy O and Rhiannon bowled 3, and Sarah Baigent and Katie D bowled one each. Changing the bowling, moving the field, Keeley being on field captain, Matt as umpire bravely stopping a 4 by letting it hit him on the arm at square leg – we still couldn't get them out!
That’s the last NorthLondon League match – we won 4, lost 6, one was rained off and 3 the opposition conceded. We have finished either 3rd or 4th in the league, depending on the last Hampstead match
We played 6 Middlesex League matches midweek – won 4 lost 2
We played 2 rounds of the T20 cup, and are in the semis / finals again on Sunday 13th September.
