Cup final v Actonians Cricket Club Womens 1st XI on Sun 13 Sep 2015 at 10am
Actonians Cricket Club Lost Won the semi, lost the final

Match report We had 12 players for the cup semi and final, plus a cheer squad straight from the Awards Dinner on Saturday night!
We played Harrow in the semi final. Lost the toss, but they asked us to field, at 10am with the dew still in the long grass! No complaints about that, when Lucy took out the off stump of their opener in the first over!. And another in her second over. Harrow found it difficult to score with our bowling and the long grass. They were reeling at 29 for 3 in the 9th over. They actually scored 33 runs, and were assisted with 27 extras!. Lucy took 3 for 15, Antonia 1 for 15, Edna 0 for 11, Maz 1 for 4 and Reshma 0 for 13.
Our supporters were in fine voice, with huge cheers for every wicket! Maz and Edna opened the batting, and Edna was unfortunately trapped lbw on her first ball. Katie came to the crease. Maz was 31 not out, Katie 26 not out and we reached their total in 9.1 overs.
The long wait to the final didn’t really help us, and the late night of the Awards Dinner began to tell. Hampstead won the toss and put us in to bat. Maz and Amy opened./ Amy started well, but was foxed by a slower ball and caught out for 4. Maz got a peach and was bowled on 16. We didn’t improve, and Lucy was the only other bat to score in double figures, with 10 runs. Still, we have defended less than 72 before and won. But now the sun was out, and Hampstead were flowing. Our bowling and fielding faltered, and it was a different team from the semi. One game too many perhaps, and Hampstead reached the total in 13 overs. Disappointing I the final, but we played well to make it there. And the supporters were fantastic, with music and cheers to keep us going
So, the season is now over
We were runners up in the Cup, came 4th in the North London league (played 10, won 4) and second in the midweek Middlesex League (played 6, won 4)
Overall, a pretty good season. We used 33 players in all. We welcomed new players - Meghana, Rhiannon, Eleanor, Sophie, Zara, Anjlee. It was good to have Elsa, Eimar, Gemma, Mya and Katie come through from the U15’s, and well done to you for getting to the Middlesex Regional U15 squads. Camille, Kelsey and Antonia played when they could, and it is great for Mags to still play when she can. Keeley and Katy O played more regularly this season, but we lost Oclevia, but hopefully not permanently.
For the end of season awards, Maz got the batting award for most runs scored, Lucy and Edna shared the bowling award for most wickets, Edna got the overall player of the year, Lucy was young player of the year and Edna was voted players player of the year.
Towards the end of October we will have a Players Forum, where everyone has the opportunity to say what they feel about playing for the club, what they would like to see happening next season, what they would like to do in the off season etc. For example. do you like emails as a means of communicating, or should we have a whats app group or use the facebook group more, or any other way of staying in touch? Its your club-say what you think. This will be at the club on either a Tuesday or Thursday, with food.
Monday 2nd November we are hosting the North London league AGM at the club. It would be good for people to come along to that, to see what is discussed, take part in debates over the direction the league should take, and changes to the constitution (I will be suggesting earliest start times of 12 o’clock for matches – no more silly 9am starts!)
And that’s it from me. Thanks for all your help and enthusiasm this year. And thanks to parents and partners for your patience and support. And to Jennifer, Givon and Matt for scoring, teas and umpiring.
Have a great, relaxing winter everyone, stay fit and see you all next year
