Match report Here we go again. 9am start for an adult cricket match. Not our best time. And only 10 players again!!!
Maz and Lucy opened the bowling, and were not at their best, it has to be said. Radlett were 57 after 4 overs. We got it back together, and Edna bowled particularly well, going for just 12 runs off her 6 overs. All the other bowlers struggled, as their openers took advantage of loose balls. The outfield was lightning fast, so they were always going to get a large total. We did take 2 wickers – Edna took a catch off Keeley’s bowling, and Reshma bowled the new bat. Still, 211 was a big total to chase
Maz and Keely started positively against tight bowling, putting on a stand of 80 before the first wicket fell, Keely caught behind on 31, trying to push the score on. Katie came out and started hitting the ball around until she was caught on 8, and then Lucy came out. She played a couple of big shots until she was bowled on 12.
Maz was caught on 69 trying to get the score up to the next batting point. Edna and Eimar were left not out, Eimar having struck a beautiful 4 to long on.
So, it was not to be. No need to be disheartened – that same Radlett team played St Lawrence that afternoon in the Southern League Championship division. The match we played was the equivalent of a League 1 team playing a quality team from the Premiership, like Spurs. We showed good character to keep going.
