It was freezing today!!!! Not cricket weather at all. We were wrapped up in jumpers like Michelin men
Won the toss and chose to bat. Maz and Rebecca opened, and started dispatching bad balls around the boundary. The slow outfield didn’t help, but they had put on 108 for the first wicket. Rebecca was caught on 38.
Within 2 overs we were 4 down, as Katie, Lucy and Edna all came and went. Ellie joined Maz with the score on 119 in the 19th over. These two pushed the score up to 173 in the 30 overs, with Ellie ending on 15 not out and Maz 94 not out
Lucy and Camille opened the bowling, and the Harrow openers started attacking the total. Reshma and Edna came on the slow things down. Reshma took 1 for 15 off her 6 overs, and Edna 2 for 20. Ellie came on, and Camille got a brilliant run out with a direct hit from fine leg. Ellie took her first wicket for Old Actonians. Katy and Hannah both tempted the bats, who put up catches in the gaps, and then Lucy and Camille came back on. Camille took a wicket to end with figures of 1for 25 off 5, and Lucy took wickets with the last two balls of the match to end on 2 for 29. On a hat trick for the next match Lucy
A good match to start the season, played in great spirit. Rebecca, Ellie and Hannah all played well on the Old A’s debuts, and thanks to Emily for coming along to 12th. Hope you have thawed out by now. Also thanks to Jennifer for scoring and doing teas (and Carlene for getting the tea on).
