Ealing Ladies v Actonians Cricket Club Womens 1st XI on Tue 23 Aug 2016 at 6.00pm
Actonians Cricket Club Won

Match report On a lovely Tuesday evening we travelled to Ealing, where it was a game we needed to win. The game was reduced to 15 overs and was to be played from 1 end. Katie went to do the toss and as expected lost, so Old Actonians were put into bat.

Maz and Camille opened the batting and got us off to a nice start. Maz hitting some lovely leg side boundaries and Camille backing Maz up with singles. In true Ealing style they had managed to forget that having 3 behind square is a no ball so after some advice from Mags and Maz the field was changed. The first wicket fell (Camille-8) and the score was 58-1. They had set us up nicely with 6 overs to go and 9 wickets in hand. Katie took to the crease with Maz and managed to get to 66 before the next wicket fell. Maz out LBW by our own umpire (Amy didn't you tell your dad if it ever hits the pads it's not out!) Maz scored a lovely 38 to set the team up. Elsa then came in, running some quick singles before Katie ran herself out on 11. Lucy and Elsa finished off the final overs to take the total to 89-3. Both finished not out with Elsa on 9 and Lucy on 3.

So we needed to defend 89 to win. Amy and Camille opened up. They both bowled brilliantly so keep the score down and after 5 overs they'd manage to keep them down to 27-0. On came Emily who bowled a fantastic 2 overs for 17 runs. Suddenly a break through came in the 7th over with Lucy bowling the opener in her first over. Lucy's 2 overs went 1-9. So with 6 overs left they needed 32 runs to win. Maz and mags were brought on. Maz with some really tight bowling kept the score down with only giving away 15 runs in her 3 overs- despite having James calling some dubious wides. Some great fielding at fine leg from Eimear preventing 4's, as well as Zara covering the boundary. However Mags was the star of the bowling taking 4 wickets for 9 runs in her 3 overs, and a brilliant catch from Amy at backward of square! As mags said and did 'they miss we hit'. So the final score 83-5 meaning we had beaten Ealing!!!

Thank you to everyone who turned up and it really was a team effort to beat Ealing. It was great to see backing up and really getting behind the bowlers. Let's keep it up and hopefully beat Ickenham on Sunday.
