Actonians Cricket Club Womens 1st XI v Ealing (Middlesex Women's league, West Play offs) on Mon 29 Aug 2016 at 10.00am
Actonians Cricket Club Lost

Match report Having lost one game each we were tied with Ealing CC in the West division of the Middlesex Women's League. In order to determine a winner to play in the finals against North Division winners Finchley CC, middlesex called for a play off.

The foxes had been out the night before and we had to add poo patrol to the list of duties. Thank you Amy and Julie for offering to do this and doing the rounds.

Reshma won the toss and chose to field first. Amy and Lucy opened the bowling and Ealing started aggressively. We fielded well to begin but as the Ealing opener began to settle our fielding became sloppy. A breakthrough with a one handed catch from Reshma at Square Leg off Zara's bowling came in the 9th over, Ealing had already posted 55 runs at this point and with 11 overs to go we knew it was going to be a big target. A missed opportunity to take the wicket of the opener on 43, proved costly as she went on and score 93 not out (more than half of the team total). Ealing finished on 161/1 off their 20 overs.

We opened the batting with Maz and Gemma, they both worked hard running between the wickets building up the singles until Gemma was caught out in the third over. It wasn't too long until Maz was caught, which meant we had two new batsmen at the crease. Katie started strongly, hitting the square leg umpire on the elbow (you'll never hear the end of that Katie), the Davies sisters's played well together, putting the bad balls away and rotating the strike between them. They had got us up to 93 in the 15th over when Lucy was caught out, this saw Amy at the crease. She supported Katie well, but we just finished short by 19 runs.

The second highest scorer for Ealing was again the extras, tighter bowling and fielding could have kept the score down to below 130. We have played well in this league and it's a shame we couldn't continue our good form to get to the final.

It was great to see lots of support out on the sidelines, thank you to Cliff and Aaron for scoring and Debbie and co for sorting out teas and making sure they were ready.

A sunny bank holiday shouldn't be wasted and although it wasn't the day we had hoped it was nice that our supporters stuck around and enjoyed an afternoon of doubles tennis. Pairs included, Cliff and Ryan, Lucy and Amy (replaced by Ram), Aaron and Debbie, Richard and Piri, Josh and Aman, Elsa and Eimear and a late entry from Katie and Reshma. It was a great little compititon bringing individuals from different teams of the club together and was won by Elsa and Eimear :) #mostsocialclubinEaling

Ow and our friends at Finchley beat Ealing in the final.
