North London Ladies v Actonians Cricket Club Womens 1st XI on Sun 03 Jun 2018 at 1.00pm
Actonians Cricket Club Won by 41 runs

Match report On a day where it would haven been perfect weather to be sat in a beer garden watching the Cricket we were out to play in it. Reshma’s apparent ‘bad luck’ week resulted in us losing the toss but getting what we wanted anyway to bay first.

Keely and Katie opened up, sweating just walking out to the middle. The first few overs went by slowly as their openers were quite good. Singles were being run but unfortunately Keely (12) got caught in the 10th over by a 1 handed catch (somehow it just stuck). After the bizarre wicket Flo came to the crease. Runs continued to keep totalling up slowly and at drinks we were 49-1. The chat from the sidelines was great encouragement for the batsmen- even with the mention of seagulls!! Katie (32) fell to a straight delivery trying to play a non existent shot in the 22nd over. This brought on Lucy. Flo and Lucy really accelerated in the next few overs and boosted the score. They took advantage of the tiring field and the sloppy fielding at times. Both playing shots with positivity and confidence. The 36th over saw Lucy (16) get bowled, even if in her mind it was hit into the trees, which brought to an end the crucial 67 run partnership. The remaining overs were seen out by Flo and others; Alex (4), Reshma (1) and Debbie making the score up to 158 with Flo ending on a unbeaten 62*. A lovely innings executed well and a good total to be defending.

After a nice tea, even if they didn’t have cream for the scones, Alex and Emma opened up. This pairing really saw North London struggle to get runs on the board. They were both bowled straight through and finished up their spells 8-2-20-1 and 8-2-24-2 respectively. The second change saw Flo and Resh come on. The real breakthrough came when Karina somehow held onto the catch of Flo’s bowling to send probably their best batsmen back to the club house. From then on we really worked hard to stay on top and limit runs. Very frustrating at times when the bowling was on the stumps but the high pitched girl just kept blocking- even if she didn’t want to actually bat. Neha got a much needed run out which eventually got the high pitched girl to leave. The last few overs were tiring but it was a great team effort and finally after some ‘passionate’ words from Lucy she took a superb catch, to bowl them out in 33.2 overs for 117. Resh ended up on 5.2-0-14-2, Neha 5.4-0-10-1, Lucy 3.2-1-9-1, Keely 1-0-5-0 and Flo on 2.2-0-19-2. A great game and max bowling points!
