Match report After a lengthy pitch inspection, the toss was won with efficiency and Actonians embarked on their way to their highest total of the season 207, (also batting out the 45 for the first time this season).

After a couple of quick wickets hinted at a capsize, the ship was steadied by Archie Chapman (84) who weathered a spell of troublesome bowling from the visitors’ seam and spin attack. Refusing to go let the ship go down with him aboard, Ali ensured the in form batter retained most of the strike in a partnership of 120.

Following Ali and then Archie’s departure, a flurry of wickets almost saw the 4s go down inside the total overs again. However, steady hand David Whear and Vice Captain, Roheet, made sure the innings was completed, both earning red-inkers and scoring 27 and 8 apiece.

The bowling innings started strong with Roheet taking early wickets and Nathan playing catch up soon after. As seems to be the 4s trademark, several blinding catches had the visitors 5 down in little time. Alas, a healthy partnership for the 6th wicket killed off chance of a victory as, despite strong bowling spells from the openers, Maan, and David, no-one could shift either batsman. When Arjuna managed to turn one through the gate for the 6th wicket, it gained a losing bonus point, but the damage had been done.

A good performance rendered not quite enough this week by a batting performance that only just outdid our own.
