Match report The Third IX flew the flag for the Old Actonians by notching up the club’s only victory last weekend as the league program reached the halfway point.
Bowling first against local-rivals Hanwell 3, Old A’s shipped runs for the first ten overs. But left-arm spinner Daljeet Singh (3-23) and veteran medium-pacer Kevin Mahoney (3-19) turned the innings around and reduced Hanwell to 88-5.

Then a fightback by the lower order and a resolutely wagging tail pushed a buoyant Hanwell to 215 all out, medium-pacer Duncan Slaughter chipping in with 2-22.

In perfect batting conditions, Old As paced their reply smartly and reached the final 20 overs with just over 100 runs needed and eight wickets still in hand
James Luckhoo then opened his shoulders and helped by Karthik Hebsur (46) and Daljeet Singh (also 46), Luckhoo moved towards a well-deserved ton.

But with the target of 216 approaching rapidly, Luckhoo fell five runs short, ending-up with an excellent 95 not out.

The win maintains Old As spot at the top of the table, but with the top four split by just 16 points, the second half of the season is set for a tight finish.
