Actonians Cricket Club 3rd XI v Enfield 3 on Sat 06 Aug 2016 at 12.30pm
Actonians Cricket Club Won By 7 wickets

Match report The 3s were buoyant after last weeks win at Harrow Town but there were changes aplenty this week with poor availability above and Arkwright Maben having to mind the shop! Enfield have had an up and down season but fortunately for us they had a poor week for availability too and arrived at Boddingtons with 10. To compound their bad luck they lost the toss and were duly invited to bat on what was a green top of a wicket.

We welcomed back Rashpal to the fold and he opened up with Nathan. Despite some alarms Enfield reached the end of the 4th over at 18 for no loss but thereafter things did go somewhat awry. Rashpal got the breakthrough when their opener played an uppish drive to Abhay at cover who took a sharp low catch. Nathan soon cleaned up their number 3 and the same Rashpal/ Abhay combo accounted for the 3rd wicket. The rest of the innings saw a regular fall of wickets with their skipper ( who was comfortably their best player) managing to score a very creditable 40 until being the 7th out with the score on 74. Smithy chipped in with a brace and Nathan completed a well deserved 5 for to wrap things up.

It was decided to have tea after the game so it was a quick turnaround. Andrew Jones opened up with Parker hoping to improve on their last partnership which totalled 0 and ended with a calamitous run out! We'll they made it to 3 this time when Jones was bowled. Parker soon followed when he got one that did keep very low with the score on 16. This was doubly disappointing as this meant Richard coming back to sit with us with the mustiest smelling shirt mankind has known! Aneeq was then sent out to blast some quick runs and he made 12 before he was out LBW. Abhay came out to join Roger with the score on 36 and they saw us home with relative ease.

So a 2nd win on the bounce for the 3s giving us a great chance of avoiding the drop. In fact we went above Enfield after this win and are 20 points above Twickenham. A win over Twickenham next week should clinch survival.

As for DOTD, there were surprisingly a number of candidates despite the game only lasting 37 overs. Parker had to empty the bladder after only 4 overs, Nathan asked a 14 year old for a "touch" at drinks, but Smithy failed to send his "sausage to the sea" and left what can only be described as a floater! Smithy duly took the honours.
