Our supports had arrived, we'd had some lunch to help soak up the remainder of alcohol still in some of our bodies and ease the hangovers and we were in high spirits for the final. Wanstead won the toss and put us into bat. It was a slow pitch with a very long boundary on one side and a short one on the other. Keely and Katie opened hoping to have the same start they did in the morning, however it wasn't to be when Keely was trapped LBW in the 3rd over. We were 11 for 1, as Lucy went in. The Davies sisters continued aggressively, getting the score up to 95, before Katie was caught on 59 in the 16th over. Lucy was on form and we just needed to support her in the middle, Edna ran out of lives in the previous game and was caught, followed by Amy and a run out sent Preeti back to the sidelines, Reshma joined Lucy in the middle for the last four balls getting the score up to 125.

It was a good target to defend, we just needed to bowl and field well. With lots of bowling options on offer, Camille opened the bowling and didn't take long to break the opening partnership. Wanstead were 2 for 1 after the first over, just the start we wanted. An early bowling change the other end put pressure on the Wanstead bats forcing them to work hard for runs. Spectators on the sideline had just settle down from their energetic appeal for LBW off Reshma's bowling that was marginally going down leg according to the umpire, as a ridiculously good throw from Amy at deep backwards square hit the top of the stumps to run out their number 3. Wanstead were 26 for 2 in the 4th over. We continued to bowl well and get our bodies behind the ball that was being hit hard by the Wanstead captain, as she began to settle and find the boundary. Edna and Preeti were bought into the attack, with Preeti taking a wicket in her first over. Wanstead needed 60 off 8 overs and we knew we had to keep Saba off strike. We worked hard on the field, backing each other, not letting anything past us, trying hard for those run outs. The required run rate began to lessen, they needed 37 runs off the last 5 overs, we stayed positive and kept the bowling and fielding tight. Keely came onto bowl the last over and Wanstead need 13. The first 2 balls went for singles, they doubled up on the second 2 balls. 2 balls, 7 runs needed, 4 runs off the 5th ball. Everything was going leg our sideline captains encouraged us to reset the field. 3 needed off 1. They ran hard but could only find two as the ball found its way back to Julie to finish the game!
