Match report It was freezing. We welcomed Sue Donaldson, Gemma NiBhriain and Jodie Robb to the team, plus the creche of 7 children provided by Sue, Keely and Karina.
We were put in to bowl, and opened with Alex and Giovanna. They did well to stay warm , and both bowled tightly. Alex cleaned up the stumps of the opener in the first over, so we thought we could be in from the cold pretty soon. But they dug in, so Capt Alex switched bowlers, to bring on the youthful Kate Barton and Maz Smith. Experience showed and wickets fell, 3 for each. Carlene took a fabulous catch, her first in league cricket, to get rid of the stubborn opener. And Alex took a great catch off her mums bowling. Newcomers Jodie and Gemma did some excellent, and entertaining, fielding. Keely and Sue then took over the bowling, and Sue cleaned up the tail, taking the last 2 wickets.
Great tea, with chips, and Maz and Keely opened the batting. Maz got 43, and Keely got 26 not out, with Sue adding 3 not out at the other end. All over, and back in the warm, after 15 overs.
Thanks to Piri for umpiring, Elliot for scoring, and the creche for (generally) behaving themselves on the bouncy castle. Good to have two sets of mums and daughters on the pitch. Just waiting for Megan and Daisy to grow and then we can put out two more sets of mums and daughters.
What a team!
