On Thursday 8th July, Actonian’s U14 girls’ played a cricket match against Bushy Park. The match started at 6pm, but we all arrived early so we could get warmed up and fully prepare for the game. Due to some issues, we ended up fielding first, and we borrowed a player from their team to make sure we had enough fielders. Maisie opened the bowling, setting a high standard which everyone consistently kept throughout the sixteen overs. We got lots of them out, although one of their opening batsmen stayed in until the end, not getting enough runs to retire. With some amazing catches and bowling, and a particularly captivating run out, our fielding was good and sharp, although we did let them hit a few boundaries and they got a few runs in places we could’ve stopped them. Working on our walking in for next time, and making sure we pay attention if the ball comes our way. We let them rack up a total of 113 runs, and then it was our turn to bat.


First in to bat were Calla and Maisie, who gave us a strong start to continue off of. They hit a few boundaries, then we had Siena, Megan and Leah going in before we had our final pair of Megan and Emma, who hit lots of amazing shots, staying in until the end of the 16th over! We ended up with 72 runs, a formidable total, but not enough to beat our opponents.
