Match report Blessed with a beautiful sunny day reflecting off Harrow's lush green pitch and to our luck, won the toss! After Sally's excellent warm-up fit for 8-year-old footballers, we were all out of breath and gathered for the batting order and a pep talk from our skipper Emily. Lucy opened with Emily, the partnership batted the fielders into silence and with cheers came rolling in from the boundary line, we knew we were onto something incredible. With Lucy out, I came in and not so humbly celebrated my first 4. Very quiet in the field with what seemed like easy batting. Emily was killing it out in the middle, sweeping up 4s after 4s and adding in some short quick runs on balls that didn't make it over. However my luck eventually ran out. Bowled out, Sally came in strong, vice and capt were inspirational. Cheers erupted when Emily hit 50! Fielding chat did start to pick up when Sally was caught. Gio came in to finish strong, with the team ending on 188 and of that belonged to Emily smashing 83 and not out!!!

After a tea break, we walked out to the field in high spirits. Our pep talk was 'get ready for the catches' and 'back each other up'. And that we did! The strong opening bowling order gave the team all the adrenaline: 1st Gina, 2nd Arabella and Gio 3rd. The next time Gina says anything about running, remind her of this game. Absolutely amazing bowling from Gina, sprinting uphill every ball and consistently on point fielding. A near catch from Arabella was followed through with a naughty run out off the same ball. Skip kept calling out behind the stumps for everyone to get ready for a catch; the very next ball, getting her way Sally was there. Wides were given away like candy; however, Harrow didn't have a sweet tooth as Lucy ran out a batter and then the whole field went silent with pity. The sympathy didn't last long with another glorious runout, this one from Elaine! Unfortunately, the umpire on square didn't give it. Nevertheless, our morale stayed high, lively chat in the field, backing every bowler and beautiful fielding from Lucy and Deeksha! And Elaine's lovely arm came into play a lot. Our stats tallied up; 3 out from Zara, 2 off Deeksha (including the take from Sally) and 2 from Arabella (including the run out). Captain of the game won by 100 runs, received 'Man of the Match' by a landslide - Emily for exceptional batting and keeping! On a heavily inclined pitch, there's only 1 way up! 😎
