Who said Friday 13th is an unlucky date? Firstly, my eldest was born on a Friday 13th, secondly, the U11’s faced Richmond on Friday 13th May, winning by a very tidy 50 runs.

Although it was a hardball fixture, the match was played as pairs at the request of the Richmond coach as the team are a new group of girls, but their potential was obvious. We will need to watch out for them in the future.

Five of our bowlers took wickets with Molly taking a lovely catch, Eleanora making a great throw for a run out and Caitlin bowling a hat trick! I lost track of how many balls Andrea stopped near the boundary to stop Richmond getting 4s.

Our batting was strong with Sienna and Andrea, and Hannah and Freja giving away 0 wickets, and Alice scoring a high for the match of 14 runs. However, I have realised that I need a notebook on hand to really do a good job of match reporting so I’m sorry if I’ve missed other stand out moments – there were a lot of them!

It was great for the team (and the bar) to have so much support from the club house patio. There seemed to be a lot of educating in the finer points of cricket going on – perhaps there are some budding scorers and umpires among the crowd?
