Match report A tough match today against an excellent opposition, but that was to be expected in the group quarter finals of the ECB U13's Girls Cup.

People who know a lot more about cricket than I do have said Slough's opening batters were exceptional and we may well see them playing on the telly in the future.

Actonians should not be disheartened. The bowling was good with half as many extra's given a way compared to their last match. Potentially, a little predicable for Slough's batters who managed to get bat to ball on 2/3 balls they faced. There a few fielding mistakes - not stopping balls from getting to the boundary and some over throws - but 8-a-side against such good batting is going to be hard work.

Actonians didn't give up, although perhaps they would have liked to, and went out to bat with understated determination but it wasn't to be. Two quick wickets dismissed Valeria and Sienna for a total of 4. Leah and Hannah stabilised things for a while with Abbie then taking over from Leah getting the run rate up a little. Actonians did well to make it to the 14th over, but it wasn't to be.

However, the team will not be commiserating. Being beaten by such good players is no disgrace and it's all great practice. Actonians will be celebrating their performance in the cup this season, how well they have played through the competition, getting to the group quarter finals and the top 32 in the country. Well played girls!
