actonians development XI went out to bat first. zain and rory put on a good partnership of 35 runs in the first 7 overs, of which rory contributed a massive one run before getting bowled out. daniel mccarthy was in next and was unfortunate to face an absolute beauty on his first ball, walking off for the first duck of the day. saurabh came in and batted with zain for a few overs before zain was bowled out for 28 runs. saurabh then chipped one up to mid off after making 11 runs, before ben grumitt came on for the second duck of the day. aarnav and arhat attempted to stabilise the innings. a fairly good partnership of 38 odd runs in 5 overs ended with aarnav creaming one straight to cow, finishing on 7 runs. archie and arhat then played a couple overs before arhat was run out for a good 37 runs. archie carried on with the likes of rakesh (3rd duck of the day) and ollie james, until he was bowled out for 28, leaving ollie james and laksh to bat the final overs, but in the end, laksh was caught out for 2 runs, leaving ollie james with 8 not out.
Captain for the first 10 overs was Aarnav and Daniel marshalled the troops after 10 overs.
the bowling innings started with laksh and ollie james opening the bowling. both were dispatched for quite a few runs after which ben and saurabh came on for first change. saurabh got a lovely wicket on his return, straight through the gate, after which archie gave ben a wicket by taking a flat catch at square leg. ben got his second wicket clean bowled, but the bush opening batsman was still on the pitch, punishing not only the bad balls, but also some of the fielders for dropping some catches. he was finally caught out by arhat at extra cover off of some rather shaky leggies from archie, preventing him from getting 100. the game was wrapped up but bowling cameos were made by aarnav, archie, daniel, zain and arhat, most of which don’t normally get a chance at a ball.
lost the match by 6 wickets.
