Match report The 3s travelled to Holtwhites this week to tackle a side we did the double over last season. Nathan went out to do the toss and you can guess the outcome! We had a much changed line up this week with out batting being bolstered by 2 debutants who have both made centuries recently in the form of Abhay and Rebecca. The latter opened the batting with the VC but got a brute of a ball from their opener in the 2nd over and gloved to the keeper. VC followed soon after to leave us 9 for 2 in the 4th over. Abhay and Josh were starting to repair the innings but Abhay was out with the score on 43. H joined Josh and at 77 for 3 we appeared to be back on track. However wickets then began to fall regularly again and our "long" batting line up slumped to 99 for 8. Smithy and Asad then stuck around for a while with Smithy using his legside shovel shot to good effect! Asad was eventually run out going for an ambitious 2nd and Shaun belted a full toss straight down mid wicket's throat to end the innings (one of 5 to succumb to a full pie!). 130 all out on a pitch very similar to the one we chased down over 200 last season? I think we were behind the 8 ball needing snookers 3 match points down on their serve!

After an excellent tea Nathan stirred the troops and we duly fixed our bayonets and we prepared to go over the top. Nawroz struck in the 1st over when he won a LBW decision and we thought game on. However we had to wait until the score was on 57 before we struck again when "all rounder" Smithy induced their number 3 to drag on a wide delivery. We kept plugging away and Nathan rightly ringed the changes but to no avail. Nawroz hung onto a sharp caught and bowled but by that point Enfield were only 9 runs shy of their target. The oppo duly completed a comfortable victory and we all went off for an amiable post match chat and a beer. Just how it should be. Not one to dwell on then but bet on the 3s to bounce back.
