Match report Well it was one of those days. You knew it was coming and in this case the weather came right at the end of our innings having been put in by the oppo. That’s 2 out of 2 lost tosses for The Assasan! The Big Show opened up with Rocket Ronit and Aneeq started in style by swatting the first ball of the match through mid wicket. However the pacey left armer got his revenge later in the over when he swung one back through Aneeq’s “defences”. At the other end Ronit began in imperious fashion on driving the other opening bowler through mid on and mid wicket to get the score moving. Jayson Fernandes, batting at three, started cautiously but he proved to be the mainstay of our innings which ensured we posted some sort of total. Ronit was adjudged LBW to leave us 34 for 2 and Will soon followed after spooning an ambitious drive. Rakesh then played a sprightly cameo and we looked like we might yet post a challenging total. However after he perished we lost wickets at regular intervals to fall to 125 for 8. Debutant Alex Powell then provided Jayson with valuable support to put on 40 for the 9th wicket. Jayson was eventually stumped for a well made 63 and our last wicket failed to add to the total. 165 then on a decent wicket and a fast outfield. We would have needed to bowl well but we were not going to get the chance to show what we could do. No doubt, in his mind anyway, that The Big Show would have lead us to a glorious victory!
